I also linked to the CSS Paint Polyfill (github.com/GoogleChromeLabs/css-paint-polyfill) so everyone can start using the Paint API in production today!

I’ve updated houdini.glitch.me/paint with a new example, “tabs”, to show how the Paint API can be used in design systems to help us implement and maintain those nice visual flourishes we all like. In this case, a tab component with rounded transitions from tab to content.

@etportis @beep @bfgeek @bfgeeks The constraint example is just a specific implementation of the Layout API. Absolutely play around with it, but trying your hand at making one may help you get a better feeling for it.

Holy Grail should be straight-forward, but not a great container query use case? Either way, will draw up a demo in a bit.

@etportis @beep @bfgeek It won’t be a general-purpose solution, but for the handful of components that really need it using a custom layout could provide this functionality

@etportis @beep @bfgeek will explain it better, but it’s because of Layout API constraints. Can’t set the inline (width) size with Layout, only block (height) size, so children’s position in layout won’t affect parent’s inline size. Thus should solve for 90% use case
