@chriseppstein That benchmark is strictly meant to look at CSSOM/paint perf of the two approaches. Curious what the point of the wire savings vs paint is

@itsmisscs Building the CSSOM and state manipulation happen continuously, and wind up affecting perf by locking up the main thread. What’s the middle?

@itsmisscs I’m curious as to the real-world tradeoffs. Yes, smaller over-the-wire, but that’s a one-time cost per session.

@micahgodbolt It’s a non-trivial button example that’s OSS? Any trivial CSS example wouldn’t be sufficient for a real-world test
