@nhoizey @jeffposnick @workboxjs Looking good! I’m glad you’re finding recipes useful!
-
@nhoizey @jeffposnick @workboxjs The offline fallback recipe developers.google.com/web/tools/workbox/modules/workbox-recipes#offline_fallback allows you to pass in an image, page, and font fallback if you’d like. Take a look there!
-
@nhoizey @jeffposnick @workboxjs Correct on both counts. The only file that will be “precached” (although Workbox precaching isn’t used) is your offline fallback.
-
@nhoizey @jeffposnick @workboxjs The quick usage doesn’t have routing for audio or video, so this probably isn’t needed unless you have other steamed assets you don’t want cached.
Like Jeff said, the lack of a good default besides network only for audio and video is why it’s not included in the quick usage.

@martinzeltins @vitejs_dev @eleven_ty Tailwinds isn’t a good fit for our project or team, so no it’s not something we considered switching to. That said our site is open source if you want to explore some of the custom CSS we wrote!

Re-upping for those who missed it yesterday: we just deployed a big refactor to ChromeOS.dev and wrote up a retrospective on what we did and why we did it. Check it out! Snugug/1486463245858840583

@nhoizey @vitejs_dev @eleven_ty Yah we compared optimizations of the same image at the same size across multiple services and found Cloudinary’s AVIF was many KB larger than the other services’ WebP, which was a blocker for us
-
@nhoizey @vitejs_dev @eleven_ty Thanks again for sharing. That wasn’t clear during our initial investigation. Even with that, though, their overall optimization wasn’t on par with other solutions which was important for us. If something changes with the solution we went with we may re-examine.
-
@nhoizey @vitejs_dev @eleven_ty Thanks for pointing me too that! It’s not that we found it complex, per session, just more so than the other solutions. The image apples-to-apples optimization comparisons we did and their reliance on their DAM were much bigger factors in choosing something else.
