  • So… the outline for my new talk is just over 11 pages long, mostly written in prose. I’ve got 30 minutes to deliver it. That’s enough time, right? Right?!

(tickets are free, giving it at @simplewebconf next week, talk is PWAs: Past, Present, Future)

  • @himedlooff I’m just getting started myself! youtube.com/user/BBQwithFranklin is a great series, both Aaron Franklin and Rodney Scott have excellent BBQ cookbooks, and amazingribs.com is a great resource. Also, get thermometers. I’ve got @fireboardlabs stuff with fan.

  • It’s taken almost two months for me to have weather good enough to smoke again, but it was worth the wait. Chicken: moist, tasty. Ribs, with gochugaru: spicy, moist, with a bit of a bite. Smoked with apple wood. instagram.com/p/CQFQw5ppXnv/?utm_medium=twitter

  • You know what I want more than a flexible return to office/work from home policy? A four day work week. An extra day each week to unwind and do personal things is so much more valuable to my mental and physical health than not needing to deal with a commute maybe sometimes.

  • TIL Safari won’t size SVGs placed on a CSS Grid properly unless they have width: 100% added to them. That was a fun and annoying bug to track down.

Also, can we get better CSS mask support?

  • @patak_js @vite_js @fs Basically, if the server root is projectRoor/src, I’d want to be able to serve files from projectRoot/.cache

  • @patak_js @vite_js @fs That’s good to know. The place I’m thinking it’d be useful for what I’m writing is caching external assets for offline use, or building and serving temp files during development that shouldn’t be put into user’s source code. This looks like that would be OK with this.

  • And TIL that @vite_js supports loading images (and I think other item?) from outside the Vite root by passing the URL as @fs/path/to/thing, which leads to all sorts of excellent caching and compile/dev time optimizations…

  • @Scrum_ Awesome, thanks! I also released npmjs.com/package/vite-plugin-eleventy last week if that’s of interest for the list too. In alpha, but stable enough to use in real projects

  • In prep for some more work I’m doing, I noticed @vite_js didn’t have a @PostHTML plugin, so I made one! Pretty bare-bones to get started, but may not need much more?

Also, AST manipulation of HTML === ❤️.

  • @eleven_ty @vite_js Instead, rely on Vite to do some of that; for instance, I’m moving my image transforms from 11ty to a Vite plugin; same with my HTML minification

  • @eleven_ty @vite_js I’ve been playing around with this some more, have a couple of updates pushed for it, and have two small projects running on it. So far, it feels really good. I think the key to this setup is not overloading 11ty w/transforms or other code that greatly increases build speed.
