I’ve been doing a lot of moderation recently and something important keeps coming up that I thought I’d share:
Empathy isn’t “putting yourself in someone else’s shoes”, which I see materialize as “what would I do in their situation”.
Empathy is understanding someone else’s context and working to understand how that context affects their emotions and decisions.
This is especially true when decisions are made you strongly don’t agree with.
