• @DRyan I’ve seen eeri come up a few times. I also see they’ve got a new 6E set like Google. They both seem to have similiar specs but the eero is $300 more? Curious if in your experience they’re worth almost double similiar systems

  • What do people recommend for Wifi 6 mesh network (router+satellites) that can do both hardwired and wireless backbones? Prior to this I had Google Wifi which I loved and see a new 6e model just dropped, thinking about that, but would love others thoughts! Snugug/1580880666182307842

  • Oh! Good news! The router automatically updated, even though I had that disabled, and now everything is broken again! At least I know how to fix it now, but time to yeet Netgear out of my life.

  • Also, do you see that smoke ring?! From a pellet smoker! I’ve been getting better smoke rings, smoke flavor, and seasoning by dry-brining and starting out on a low temp for the first 3 hours. And OMG of all the things I’ve made in my smoker this summer, this was the best by far

  • Day 4: I’m up to 30 WMP with 96% accuracy. Only 8 tweaks to my layout today. Getting there. Still can’t reliably type b, v, c, or x on my first try.

  • @NETGEAR They wanted to charge me a 3 month subscription to talk to tech support or send me an email to walk through steps on my own. Walking through on my own, confirmed it was a firmware problem. Now, I just wait for it to be fixed. They took no diagnostics to debug the problem!

  • If you’re thinking about getting a router, avoid @NETGEAR like the plague. I was hopeful for my Orbi setup but every interaction with them is soul-draining and seems designed to get you to subscribe to BS, even in their router admin.

  • One interesting one, for instance, is apparently I hit the Y and B keys with the wrong hands. I’ve got an extra space to add Y to the left half, but need to double up the N key on the right half to type B.

  • Ok. Day 3. Something interesting I’m noticing is, with the ability to remap all of my keys, I’m finding emergent patterns in my muscle memory and key usage that’s causing lots of mapping iterations. I’m up to about 25 unique attempts so far.

  • Ok! Day 2. After a bunch of customization iterations I’m up to about 17 WPM touch typing on the new keyboard. B and Y seem especially tricky for me for some reason; they’re both on the “wrong” keyboard

  • I’m excited for it all eventually working, though, because it looks like I’ll be able to seamlessly swap between macOS and ChromeOS layouts without changing my keyboard muscle memory.

  • I just got a new mechanical ergonomic keyboard and it’s kinda breaking my brain. I knew it was going to be a thing to get use to (the maker even includes helpful training), but wow, I probably need to dedicate a day to just customizing & re-learning how to type
